A World Metropolis
They say Kuala Lumpur is a city that never sleeps. True to its name, regardless of the time of the night, you will be able to find all sorts of things to do...or as the city dwellers love doing, dine out no matter what time it is.
For those not familiar with Kuala Lumpur's history, the city was founded around 1857 when Chinese miners arrived at the confluence of the two rivers that run through the heart of Kuala Lumpur to open new mines. As its name suggests, Kuala Lumpur can simply be translated to mean 'a muddy confluence' as these Chinese miners were said to have landed at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak River.
Despite various trials and tribulations, including the great 1881 fire which raged through the old Kuala Lumpur, the city continue to grow. Following the nation's independence in 1957, Kuala Lumpur began to experience a rapid development, turning it into a true world metropolis we know today.
Kuala Lumpur has certainly come a long way and the way forward is still long nevetheless.
